Currency
Riel (US $1=4,000 - 4,050 riels) US dollars widely accepted. Major credit cards and travelers checks accepted at major hotels, restaurants, shops and banks. Notes KHR: 100, 200, 500, 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, 10,000, 20,000, 50,000, 100,000.


Telecommunication
Telephone networks, including landlines and cellular are readily available and accessible in the capital city as well as most of the provinces. GSM international roaming system is operational throughout. International direct dialing can be done from hotels or via cellular phones. In the last few years, price on hand phone and service have gone down sharply therefore almost everyone carries one presently. There are five companies providing mobile phones services and numbers starting from: 011, 012, and 016.


Food
Rice, fish are the basic foods enjoyed by Cambodians. Delicious noodles soups are available at cafes. Fresh seafood is plentiful at Sihanouk Ville beach. Other specialty foods are Chinese, Thai, French, Korean, Japanese, Indian, Vietnamese, Middle Eastern and others.


Visa
A one-month tourist visa is available on arrival at Phnom Penh Pochentong International Airport, Siem Reap Angkor Wat Airport and the Vietnam and Thai borders for US$ 20. Visas can also be issued at Cambodian Embassies overseas. Visitors crossing the border checkpoints from Laos are required to obtain entry visas at embassies abroad. (Visa application form and two passport photographs are required).


Customer Regulation
An unlimited amount of foreign currency can be brought into Cambodia, but the amount of Cambodian currency must not exceed 100,000 Riels per person. Tourists and non-resident carrying amounts over USD10,000 in cash or the equivalent must declare so in order to ensure that they will be allowed to leave with the declared amount. Leaving the country, luggage will be x-rayed and inspected at Phnom Penh airport as well as at Siem Reap.

Helth Requirement
No vaccinations are presently required unless you are travelling from or through contaminated areas. It is recommended that you be immunized against polio, typhoid, tetanus, and both hepatitis A and B. It is suggested that you bring adequate supplies of any essential personal medication along, as they may not be available in Cambodia.


Shopping
There are a wide variety of items available for purchase in Cambodia. The country was once well-Know for its superior silk weaving, metal work and woodcarving. After decades of neglect, many of these arts are being revived. Visitors can find silver items, jewelry, gems, colorful cloth for Sarong and Hols (variegated silks), wood carving, stone copies of ancients Khmer art, brass and bronze figurines and oil painting in the different markets and shops on main avenues. The traditional clothing for both men and women is the Krama, a long, narrow checked silk or cotton cloth available in most markets and shops. Jewelry is generally not up to international standards for design and workmanship and buyers should use caution when purchasing gold and gems. The export of antiques is subject to approval of the Ministry of Culture. Bargaining is essential for all souvenirs shopping, if travelers are to obtain reasonable
prices. Reductions of up to 20 percent are possible.


Passports and Visa
Cambodia has very liberal visa regulations. It is meant to say a valid passport and visa are required for entry. Visas can be obtained at Pochentong Airport in Phnom Penh or Siem Reap (Angkor) Airport. All travelers have to do is bring along two passport size photos and fill up visa application. A one-month tourist visa costs US$20 while a business visa costs US$25.00.


Hotel
Room cost can start from $3 to $100 per night. Whether you prefer to stay at Guest Houses with no air-con but fan, a motel style which range from $10 to $45 or you may stay at one of the 5 stars hotel e.g. Cambodiana, Le Royal or Inter-Continental. The cost of $10 and up will equip with air conditioner, refrigerator and a cable TV.


Sight Seeing
The best and most inexpensive way to take in the sights and sounds of Phnom Penh is by Cycle (a tricycle). There are several tour operators in Phnom Penh who offer tours to other parts of the country. Most of them also provide cars and mini-vans for rent.


Transportation
From Pochentong International Airport to anywhere in Phnom Penh will cost you $5.00 per trip which is about 8 kilometers.
